Heather Polechio
Heather Polechio, one of Asheville’s only nationally Certified Professional Dog Trainers has been working professionally with dogs for over nine years in the Asheville, NC area. Throughout her experience with various canine related organizations and businesses, she came to realize that her passion was to gain a deeper understanding of the relationships between dogs and humans.
In 2006 aspiring to pursue this goal, Heather sought guidance from community trusted Kim Brophey, BA, CDBC, CPDT-KA. Upon Kim’s advice, Heather set out to achieve a solid and formal education in dog behavior and training. She successfully achieved this goal in 2009, graduating with honors from one of the most progressive and highly esteemed schools in the country, The San Francisco SPCA Academy for Dog Trainers & Behavior Counselors, founded and instructed by dog training legend Jean Donaldson.
Upon graduating from The San Francisco SPCA Academy for Dog Trainers & Behavior Counselors, Heather began her career training dogs professionally, embodying enthusiasm, practical experience and an education founded in scientific principles of canine learning and behavior. In 2010, Heather had the honor of joining forces with Kim Brophey and The Dog Door Canine Services LLC.
Heather is committed to maintaining her education in this ever growing and unregulated field and feels that our community deserves professional yet compasionate guidence. Heather is a nationally Certified Professional Dog Trainer (CPDT-KA) and a member of the APDT, the largest professional organization for dog trainers and behavior consultants in the United States. She shares her home in Asheville, NC with her three canine companions, Cosmo, Sage and Otchot.
