Asheville’s Dog Behavior Center
The Dog Door Canine Services Behavior Center offers a variety of great resources to help YOU and YOUR DOG meet your specific needs & goals. Behavior Consultations and private training are done in a comfortable home like setting, as well as offered in home for some clients. We also have the incredible resource of downtown Asheville right outside of our door which we are able to use for socialization, obedience work in a real-life environment, leash manners training, and more. With one nationally certified (Asheville’s only) dog behavior consultant and three nationally certified dog trainers on our staff, we have you covered for everything you need to love living with your dog!

Behavior Consultations with Kim Brophey, CDBC, CPDT-KA, BA for aggression, anxiety, fear/phobias, complex behavior problems, relationships between people and dogs or between pets (see Kim’s page for more information on credentials, experience, etc.
- Private Obedience /Manners with Heather Polechio, CPDT- KA- everything but the kitchen sink! (that’s Kim’s job). Housebreaking, excessive barking, jumping/mouthing, chewing/object stealing/trash-raiding, leash walking, manners/obedience, recall/come when called, commands, games, and more!
- Puppy Training and Socials with Heather Polechio, CPDT-KA- offers socialization with puppies as well as other well-skilled adult dogs who can teach your puppy how to speak dog and play nicely with others, obedience and manners training in the real world, puppy problem prevention and more!
- Doghugger Outfitters Store offers a wealth of behavior and training tools and solutions, as well as a wonderful staff ready to help answer any questions. We also offer free fittings for harnesses and headcollars, as well as testdrives for certain equipment.
- Asheville’s Rufficial Dog Welcome Center & Lounge - come and take a load off in our wonderful dog-friendly Asheville HQ! Fresh water, beds for naps, play area (when not in training), and wonderful info and goodies for local and visiting dogs and their persons.
- Community Education & Services- Kim Brophey offers lectures, presentations, classes, and seminars at local colleges and universities and other interest groups, including some that offer CE for vets and techs. Call us for more info on upcoming events!
- ***NEW!!! City Dog Training- “a well-mannered dog downtown”-no wonder it has already been our most popular service ever! Look for us out and about!
- We do not offer competitive obedience or sport classes, but refer out for those services if you would like guidance in selecting a class/trainer for them.
